"It should shut the mouths of any number of apologists."
Nonsense! I'm a total mouthbreather, so this apologist's mouth NEVER closes!

Prime response:
"I mean, hell- even most 7 million JW's don't know about the WT Society's child abuse policies- that's how secretive WT's policy making has become in the last 30 years or so in order to protect their financial empire instead of protecting children."
If every JW knew the WT's secretive pedophile policy (SPP), it wouldn't be a secret now, would it? And the only reasonable way WT can improve the SPP is to make it even more secretive and stress to the elders the importance of contacting the WT branch FIRST... you know, so that the GB can pray for SkyDaddy's direction on the matter, just like they pray over the appointments of elders. And when I say "the GB can pray for SkyDaddy's direction on the matter," I obviously mean that some punk in legal department will put the information in the SPP database and then look at a table to see whether you are calling from a reporting or non-reporting state.
And of course WT has to protect their financial empire! It's not like all that cash from their sale of Brooklyn real estate is able to defend itself. All those poor, defenseless dollars need the loving protection of the GB and the Legal Department!
i have been lurking for a long time here and i think i'm prepared to speak about this experience openly.. .
i was born in a jw family and i grew up as the average jehovah's witness does.
even being very young, i helped with the territories and other work in the congregation.
Wow. Thanks for sharing.

Shall I fill in for Prime on this thread?... I think he's been trying to say:
Bad elders are sometimes recommended by stupid local elders that don't know their a$ses from a hole in the ground. When these idiots recommend their appointment, the branch goes through a bunch of bull$hit where they pretend that the GB prayerfully reviews these brothers appointment so that we can be fully confident that SkyDaddy approves so that these brothers are appointed "by Holy Spirit." But that's just a bunch of superstitious crap. We know it's just some dude in the Service Department with a rubber stamp that approves whatever the local jerkoffs and the CO recommended. So it's only reasonable that some quantity of criminals will get approved to serve as elders.
The important thing is that in legal terms, none of that stuff that WT says about SkyDaddy, the GB, and the Holy Spirit having any responsibility for the appointment of child molesters. In legal terms, WT is Teflon and in those cases where children are molested, the parents are to blame for trusting the local fools on the BoE. Just like WT isn't to blame for the millions of people that believe the nonsense they've has been printing about the end coming "soon." It's the fault of the JWs themselves for being too eager and making assumptions beyond the purposes of God. Just as a person should not trust any prophecy by WT, a person should not trust an elder to be alone with a child, a single sister, any of your pets, or even an apple pie.
And you all are apostates, so I'm leaving, and I mean it this time!

"Does anyone outside the perimeters of a local congregation recommend a person for appointment as an elder or a ministerial servant?"
Brothers that move across the country will be recommended by their previous congregation, not by the local congregation. The appointment of any elder is not official until the appropriate correspondence is sent from the branch with an official stamp. It is explained that the service department and the governing body carefully review and pray over these appointments. Official WT teaching is that the elders are appointed by Holy Spirit. Wouldn't the Holy Spirit know whether someone has previously or will in the future sexually assault a child? Clearly, elders are not appointed by Holy Spirit. That's just another lie promoted in the pages of WT.
"You know what kind of parents JWs are."
Naive, that's what they are. They've been taught by WT to believe that the elders are carefully selected by the Holy Spirit to protect them from a wicked world. Little do the ordinary JWs realize, the BoE is just a local "good ole boys" club that can do whatever they want and get the rubber stamp of approval from headquarters. If a child is molested, that is a crime that should be reported to the police. However, WT doesn't recognize it as a crime, only as "spiritual weakness" on the part of the abuser.
when i first came to this site.
whenever i would try to talk about somethign from the bible that the jw's got wrong or reason on a scripture that had so much feeling you would stomp all over it.
talking about "flying spaghetti gods" and laugh at what seemed to be my expense and then leave the thread never to return and add any substance.
" Talking about "flying spaghetti gods" and laugh at what seemed to be my expense and then leave the thread never to return and add any substance."
Don't laugh at FSM! He'll give you "substance"!

"...the administrative position of the organization goes to great lengths to yield to the decision making of local congregations when it comes to appointing and removing elders, or expelling a person from the congregation."
That's just "apostate talk" coming from a "diseased mind." Such "fleshly" reasoning is not in line with the "light" from Jehovah's channel. Appointments of elders are made by Holy Spirit. The decisions made by judicial committees are directed by Holy Spirit.
the whole jeremiah book is an abomination, but a point in this week's study exceeded even its usual standards of inanity.. from page 144, paragraph 10:.
in our day, god continues to show loving-kindness in ways that directly benefit his worshippers.
consider the matter of prayer.
This should clear up the whole prayer issue...
several weeks ago, i had the opportunity to attend one of the dc.
the final drama was quite interesting as it depicted a "ban" on the jehovah's witness religion without an explanation as to why?
i'm sure many in the audience pondered on what they had learned from their previous studies i.e that babylon the great would fall and then that gog of magog would eventually turn his attention to the organization.
So by using the example of Esther, if JWs get banned the congregations have to prepare their daughters to sleep with whoever can get WT unbanned? Isn't that short-sighted? Shouldn't the congregations prepare their sons to sleep with whoever can get WT unbanned, too?
i had two close friends in the org.
one is in her early thirties and got married last year and the other one is single and in her late twenties.
after reading coc, i couldn't help but feel sad at how ray and his wife felt regret at putting the religion first and not having any children.
Very common. I know several that are sad because they didn't have children and cling to the hope of kids in the panda-petting paradise. I know several that are glad they "disobediently" had children... or had 'accidental' children that are now grown.
Something that has been really painful for these childless couples is that back in the 80s, WT discouraged children with talks and articles such as "Responsible Childbearing in this Time of the End." Now, WT encourages "family study nights" and shows parents and children sitting together... with the parents both counting it as FS time. Great way to rub salt in the wounds of those most obedient to their earlier direction. Similar with those that stayed single in order to be useful to Jehovah's organization during the very last moments of the last days... now going on 30 years for many of us. My cousin was really angry after one WT study that painted us as pathetic, unmarriagable singles that deserved pity from those in the congregation with REAL families. WTH? They sure painted over the fact that it was WT's prophecies that led us to be the pathetic, unmarried, childless people we became.
I know several whose biological clocks are ticking loudly in their ears. From my experience, I'd recommend saying less to them than to anyone else. Get on with your own life. Plan for and have your own happy family. That's what I plan to do.
